Director: Zeriocha Zapata
Zapata Gallery, established in 2022 by Zeriocha Zapata, is located in the heart of Miami. The gallery specializes in contemporary art and has an alluring selection of artworks from a diverse range of emerging and stablished artists.
Project:
Zapata Gallery proposes a booth for DIAF that brings together five voices from contemporary Cuban-Latin American art, with the body as the central theme: what inhabits it, what covers it, and what transforms it.
Carlos Quintana contributes visceral, ritualistic painting, in which figures emerge from the material like apparitions. Vladimir León Sagols responds with monochromatic restraint and the intimate figure, captured in its everyday life. Richard Somonte and Camila Lobón expand the dialogue with their own artistic languages. The sculptures by Pancho del Río, the only artist of Chilean origin, take
the conversation into three-dimensional space and open the project to a broader Latin American perspective.
The exhibition alternates between painting and sculpture in an open layout: each sculpture engages with the walls, and the pairings of artists reveal shared traditions and contrasting temperaments.
The project aligns with DIAF through its international focus and its audience in Miami, a city where Cuban art has a strong history of collecting. Zapata Gallery presents anchor pieces, medium-format works, and works on paper, offering entry points for collectors with diverse profiles.
