Muu Blanco (b. 1966) is a Venezuelan-American artist with a career spanning since 1986. His work in Venezuela is a compelling compilation of fragments from collective memory, brought to life through a combination of visual and auditory interpretations. Blanco employs a diverse array of artistic mediums, including collage, drawing, painting, assembly, digital photography, installation, video mapping, and sound, to craft his unique expressions. His approach is characterized by a deliberate avoidance of conforming to aesthetic paradigms, frequently incorporating appropriations to enhance the depth of his discourse.

Blanco is best described as a “producer of ideas.” He endeavors to challenge contemporary spectators with his innovative concepts, which often invite interaction and active participation. Notably, he juggles multiple projects simultaneously, seamlessly transitioning between exhibitions and live performances. Since 1995, his works have found their place in both private and institutional collections, and his individual and collective exhibitions have spanned across various international locations, including Caracas, New York, Berlin, Barcelona, Bogotá, Miami, Rio de Janeiro, Montreal, and have been featured in numerous global publications.

Currently based in Miami, Florida, Muu Blanco’s academic background includes a master’s degree in Theoretical and Practical Contemporary Art Systems, which he completed in 1992. From 2014 to 2016, he held a fellowship with the Art Connection Foundation in Miami. Since 2017, he has been a recipient of a production scholarship from the Multimedia Arts Foundation Saltamantis in Miami.

Blanco’s artistic journey began with painting, drawing, photography, and assembly, and over the years, he has expanded his repertoire to include video and sound art. Simultaneously, he has maintained a consistent presence in the media industry, hosting television and radio programs from the 1990s to the present day. Currently, he is pioneering mixed media installations that encompass a wide spectrum of contemporary forms of artistic expression.
